True Obedience

We cannot compare God’s Law to man’s laws, for man has failed to grasp the true purpose and intent of original Law and modern civil laws have a perverted view. In society, obedience is something you render or else you have by default committed crime against and have broken the law. However, in the providence of the loving Father of all the sons and daughters who have been adopted into His Name by the merits of His begotten Son, obedience, love, and the law are all part of the precious gift of the key to unlock salvation and righteousness by faith.

I CALL HEAVEN AND EARTH TO RECORD THIS DAY AGAINST YOU, THAT I HAVE SET BEFORE YOU LIFE AND DEATH, BLESSING AND CURSING: THEREFORE CHOOSE LIFE, THAT BOTH THOU AND THY SEED MAY LIVE: THAT THOU MAYEST LOVE THE LORD THY GOD, AND THAT THOU MAYEST OBEY HIS VOICE, AND THAT THOU MAYEST CLEAVE UNTO HIM: FOR HE IS THY LIFE, AND THE LENGTH OF THY DAYS: THAT THOU MAYEST DWELL IN THE LAND WHICH THE LORD SWARE UNTO THY FATHERS, TO ABRAHAM, TO ISAAC, AND TO JACOB, TO GIVE THEM. DEUTERONOMY 30:19-20
Life and blessings is the offer which our Father earnestly desires us to grasp with the hand of faith, expressing clearly to “choose life," that for our benefit we may truly live. The blessings that He is ready to pour out when we live as fully as He intended are sweeter than honey and, in fact, take up many chapters and verses in the Pentateuch just to list out. A summary is given here in the ending verses of Deuteronomy 30;  included in the blessing of choosing life is love for Him, obedience for Him, and desire unto Him. Just as our hearts are desperately wicked (Jeremiah 17:9; Genesis 6:5; Numbers 15:39; Proverbs 19:21; Proverbs 21:2) and fully incapable in and of themselves to render a pure and true love to God or even to naturally desire after Him (Psalm 14:1–3; Romans 3:10–18), the same it is with our own abilities to give Him a perfect obedience. Even the most perfect obedience humanity could ever give would be in lack because it would be void of His Spirit, and would be only perfect works, which falls short of the entire blessing of the law of faith (Romans 3:20, 27–28).
O THAT THERE WERE SUCH AN HEART IN THEM, THAT THEY WOULD FEAR ME, AND KEEP ALL MY COMMANDMENTS ALWAYS, THAT IT MIGHT BE WELL WITH THEM, AND WITH THEIR CHILDREN FOR EVER! DEUTERONOMY 5:29
This law of faith is the creation of our loving Father, and stands far above the creation of man in the law of works. It’s very essence of character is of a different purpose and intent—to open the heart of man to the heart of God and join the two together in the liberty of perfect love and obedience, that both may be equal joys to a restored humanity.
THUS SAITH GOD THE LORD, HE THAT CREATED THE HEAVENS, AND STRETCHED THEM OUT; HE THAT SPREAD FORTH THE EARTH, AND THAT WHICH COMETH OUT OF IT; HE THAT GIVETH BREATH UNTO THE PEOPLE UPON IT, AND SPIRIT TO THEM THAT WALK THEREIN: I THE LORD HAVE CALLED THEE IN RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND WILL HOLD THINE HAND, AND WILL KEEP THEE, AND GIVE THEE FOR A COVENANT OF THE PEOPLE, FOR A LIGHT OF THE GENTILES… ISAIAH 42:5-6
NOW WE HAVE RECEIVED, NOT THE SPIRIT OF THE WORLD, BUT THE SPIRIT WHICH IS OF GOD; THAT WE MIGHT KNOW THE THINGS THAT ARE FREELY GIVEN TO US OF GOD. 1 CORINTHIANS 2:12
FOR IT IS GOD WHICH WORKETH IN YOU BOTH TO WILL AND TO DO OF HIS GOOD PLEASURE. PHILIPPIANS 2:13
As sons and daughters, all things are given to us by our Father, and all things given are gifts, things to find joy in and treasure. Obedience becomes a delight which completes our purpose before God and man, and we rest in a spirit of contentedness in that completion.
AND THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL THAT WERE PRESENT AT JERUSALEM KEPT THE FEAST OF UNLEAVENED BREAD SEVEN DAYS WITH GREAT GLADNESS: AND THE LEVITES AND THE PRIESTS PRAISED THE LORD DAY BY DAY, SINGING WITH LOUD INSTRUMENTS UNTO THE LORD. AND HEZEKIAH SPAKE COMFORTABLY UNTO ALL THE LEVITES THAT TAUGHT THE GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF THE LORD: AND THEY DID EAT THROUGHOUT THE FEAST SEVEN DAYS, OFFERING PEACE OFFERINGS, AND MAKING CONFESSION TO THE LORD GOD OF THEIR FATHERS. AND THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY TOOK COUNSEL TO KEEP OTHER SEVEN DAYS: AND THEY KEPT OTHER SEVEN DAYS WITH GLADNESS. 2 CHRONICLES 30:21-23
What God had given them—in the Feast of Unleavened Bread—they loved so much and experienced such joy in the obedience that He was working within them, that to them it wasn’t enough, and they kept and received even more obedience and blessings with gladness and fulness in abundance.
YET THE LORD WILL COMMAND HIS LOVINGKINDNESS IN THE DAY TIME, AND IN THE NIGHT HIS SONG SHALL BE WITH ME, AND MY PRAYER UNTO THE GOD OF MY LIFE. PSALM 42:8
When obedience becomes a gift we receive and not a burden that we bear through a false representation of our Father, the very commands of God will come to be seen as what they truly are: forbearing love, beauty, kindness, mercy, and richness.
SEE, I HAVE SET BEFORE THEE THIS DAY LIFE AND GOOD, AND DEATH AND EVIL… DEUTERONOMY 30:15
FOR THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH; BUT THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE THROUGH JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD. ROMANS 6:23
Our part is to choose the gift of God, and then to receive it, to live in it, to take joy in it, to find rest and safety in it, and to be blessed in it.
BLESSED ARE THEY THAT DO HIS COMMANDMENTS, THAT THEY MAY HAVE RIGHT TO THE TREE OF LIFE, AND MAY ENTER IN THROUGH THE GATES INTO THE CITY. REVELATION 22:14
